On behalf of German Development Cooperation, the GIZ Reform of the Urban Water and Sanitation Sector Programme (RUWASS) supports the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) and other public actors in their efforts towards an improved and more equitable access to sustainable water supply and sanitation as well as improved water resources management in Uganda.

About GIZ RUWASS:
The Reform of the Urban Water and Sanitation Sector Reform Programme (RUWASS), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), aims at strengthening the institutional, regulatory and managerial capacities as well as the efficiency of the partner institutions in the water and sanitation sector in Uganda. One component of the RUWASS programme aims at supporting Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Uganda. The UK Department for International Development (DFID) leads the UK Government’s effort to promote international development. DFID’s overall aim is to reduce poverty in poorer countries. Through the Enhancing Resilience in Karamoja Programme (ERKP), DFID aims at increasing resilience to extreme climate and weather events in semi-arid Karamoja through strengthening nutrition programmes, livelihoods and food security for the vulnerable communities by December 2016. Furthermore, DFID recently identified an additional need to further increase the impact of the ERKP on the resilience of people in Karamoja. Water and water resources management has been identified as the main area of intervention for this extension of the EKRP.
Job Summary: The Office Manager will carry out typical officer manager and secretarial duties to support the RUWASS Project Coordinator.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the organization of office activities including telephone duties, reception, and administration of documents
In charge of producing of correspondence, creating minutes of meetings and related documents
Managing petty cash
In charge of managing of calendars
Support in various procurements (locally and under guidance from GIZ Country Office)
Render support in reporting
Support in organizing of field trips, meetings, events
Perform any other duties as requested by the project coordinator
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The Office Manager should hold University education (Bachelor degree) in relevant subject
A minimum of five years of relevant professional working experience
Significant experience in working for Donor Agencies, Non-Governmental Organisations, or other International Organizations
Excellent organisational and analytical skills and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision
Previous exposure and experience in working in related field of Water Supply / Sanitation / Water Resource Management is an asset
Prior exposure and experience in procurement, low level accounting and staff supervision (e.g. drivers) is highly desirable
Computer literacy i.e. good working knowledge of ICT (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
Ability to effectively transfer skills and knowledge
Good team player in multi-cultural and inter-disciplinary team
Fluent in both written and oral English, knowledge of German is an advantage
Knowledge of accounting software (e.g. WINPACCS) is an advantage
