IT Officer Needed at Victoria University

Job Title: IT Officer (1 Position)

Reports to: University Registrar
Working time: Full time
Length of appointment: ASAP with 6 month probation period
Age: At least 25 years and above

Purpose of the job
IT Officer monitors and maintains the computer systems and networks of VU. S/He may install and configure computer systems, diagnose hardware and software faults and solve technical and applications problems, either over the phone or in person. It's therefore crucial to ensure the correct running and maintenance of the IT systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for ICT related duties, Management Information systems and Partnerships.
Create and manage VU website on daily basis
Advise on purchase and carry out maintenance of VU ICT appliances and systems
Arrange and maintenance of partnerships
Create and maintain VU Information System and records data base in liaison with the University MIS
Advise the University Registrar on Schedules and proper follow of project activities

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The candidate should possess a Postgraduate qualification in ICT – related fields
  • Sound technical knowledge about IT, security of systems and latest developments in the field
  • Excellent management, organization and time management skills
  • Demonstrate leadership and management ICT teams
  • Effective communication
  • Awareness of new technologies and implications of adopting the technologies in Higher Education
Past exposure and experience in education institution will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems
  • Three years of relevant experience in management of ICT systems
  • The candidate should be mature, self-driven and ready to work under pressure.

REMUNERATION

An attractive remuneration package shall be paid in accordance with the University Terms and Conditions of Service.
