Job details: 
True North Consult Ltd is recruiting Fifty seven (57) short term Field Assistants to support its client a USAID/Uganda funded project aiming at improving early reading outcomes and creating positive and supportive school climate for children in primary grades. The project uses a research driven early grade reading curriculum and methodology. This project is recruiting Field Assistants to work in the following districts:

Essential Requirements 
Qualification/ Skills Areas

  • A minimum qualification of a Grade ill teaching certificate or diploma in primary education
  • Computer literacy essential and proficiency in MS word, Excel and Power point will be an added advantage
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a team, including excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in English and the respective local language
Working Conditions 
  • All positions are expected to be based in the respective districts in Uganda
  • Ability to travel in hard to reach areas with public motorcycles as the main means of transportation
Job Responsibilities 
Planning and budgeting 

  • Participation in the planning meetings for program activities
  • Develop monthly work plans that can be shared with the DEO and his/her team
  • Develop and share monthly activity budget
  • Prepare and present monthly financial report with clear and acceptable/allowable accountability documents
Monitoring and Evaluation: 
  • Collect and organize Cluster, school enrolment data (P1-P7) as well as teacher enrolment data by grade and ensure that these data are properly entered in the spreadsheets provided
  • Participate in school level monitoring activities and this includes conducting interviews with teachers, head teachers, CCTs and inspectors
  • Support M&E team data collection and management efforts including technology
Support supervision:
  • Collaborate with the Program Officers to plan and implement school support supervision visits to accelerate reading
  • Organizing and participating in debriefing meetings with l project team and partners
  • Participating in support supervision visits to schools
  • Compile support supervision data as requested
Training:
  • Support technical team in organizing and implementing training activities.
This includes:
  • Printing, organizing and packing training materials
  • Registering participants and maintaining paper and electronic records
Instructional materials distribution: 
Help in the distribution of materials to schools and this 3 includes verifying distribution at school level and taking record of the deliveries

Coordinate field based activities:
  • Communicate with schools/districts about upcoming data collection and other activities
  • Work with the technical team to ensure effective coordination of all program activities at the district, CPTC, CC and school level
  • Report any matters that need the attention of program management and technical teams
